                  James Javan loves having fun. He is fun to hang out with and likes being with people who like having fun too. James and his friends usually have picnics when they are on holiday.  These picnics are usually during the two weeks break after the January semester. This year, Javan and his friends had the picnic in Nanyuki just relaxing their minds from the busy semester.

“Friends are the only family we get to choose for ourselves, where we eat, laugh, listen and be merry,” James says
Josephine, Josphat, Steven, Mercy, Linda and Leah are cheering at James who is one of them. “Sir James (which is his stage name) is on the disk jockeys decks in one of the random promotion competition in Nanyuki town. "We could not hide our joy as we watch James do what he enjoys and loves doing,” Mercy says.
As we all know, talent is a natural ability, where one is able to do a certain thing without much effort. It’s a God given gift. James’ talent/hobby is playing music on decks. For him this is something he does for fun and he really enjoys it. His friends can testify that he is full of talent and he has a way of making music more intriguing and interesting to listen. To play music on the deejays decks is not an easy thing especially understanding the synchronization of music.
                                       One is expected to place music in a certain way. This is to ensure that the music produced is in line with the beats.
Knowing James Javan well, Josephine (his girlfriend) believes he is very good at what he does. He can even be compared to some of our famous disk jockeys in Kenya like dj Wesley, dj John, Code red deejays and Crème de la crème who have scooped various awards. James is among few young talented disk jockeys in Daystar. What makes it more interesting is the fact that he is a fourth year student pursuing electronic media and you would agree he needs more time because of the projects. Despite all that he still gets extra time to make his music more impressive. Apart from music, he believes in hard work and determination.
Sometime back Leah recalls James telling her that he believes that sometime in future, he would not mind multitasking both careers that is he follow his dream of being a media practioner and still be disk jockeys as part time. James says “This just reminds me of some day last week when I was having a conversation with my friend mike, who is a daystar alumni, who is also a deejay. He was telling me that playing music in disk jockeys has really boosted his recent financial status. In one weekend he can earn around 15 thousands, yet it’s a part time job.”
“To be where he is today makes me feel proud of him,” Mercy said. “Being his friend makes me see things in a bigger picture. He gives me motivation and psyche to discover my talent which is unknown till today. He has enabled me have a positive view on a lot of things’ for he is an open minded person, who believes if you want something done right, you do it yourself and you have to give it your best,”
He always records his mixes and gives it out to friends for free. He is popularly referred to as D.j Sir James by his friends; they never fail to invite him in their events either in or even out of school.
“After a long hectic day of back to back classes’ virtual deejaying relaxes him very much. He rarely gets bored, I am always happy to what makes him happy” Josephine, his girlfriend says.  During the interview with him he mentioned that he recently paid a visit to homeboys’ studio, though on a different mission, he got a chance to have a chat with one of their disk jockeys as he waited for his turn. Surprisingly he is ever carrying his mixes along in a flash disk, so he gave them some to listen to and they really loved some of those mixes, they even thought that he has attended a disk jockey’s school, they were amazed to know that his area of study is way different from that, it’s more of a hobby.
He can mix all genre of music but he is more into reggae music. James has really changed perception of many about reggae music, his mixes just pleases many ears. Most of the friends who joined Daystar with James in January 2009 Reggae is their favorite genre today, there is none of them without sir James mixes, and you get through friends of friends, sir James’ mixes get to be accessed by many Daystar students and I owe all that to James, especially one of his re known mix is Sir James 1.2.3.4.its reggae mix that involves the current songs. It has even become like a cliché to most students. They can associate with it very well. If you get to listen to this specific mix you would think its Code Red’s mix. Zipporah, James’ neighbor says that, “They are relaxing, when I get to the room I just play them, away from up school’s stress. His rocks big time, he’s got talent.”
                                     The way he smiles and shakes his head as he is deejaying, just shows how much he is passionate and enjoying the music. There is this one time he had attended a friend’s wedding and James was there. The deejay that was on the decks made a slight mistake as he was mixing, and James was like “that synchronization is not right.” Trust you me he was the only one who noticed, that’s just show how much he is good at what he does. For James boredom is a vocabulary.
“Most of the times when am down I just find myself virtual deejaying on my laptop, of which I end up forgetting all my troubles and having fun as I always do.” Sir James said.
